What is Shopify Flow?

Shopify’s automation tool: when something happens, check a condition, do something. Bulk edits can be the “do something”.

Shopify Flow is Shopify’s built-in automation app. A workflow starts with a trigger, evaluates conditions, and runs actions — including actions provided by connected apps.

How it is structured

  • Trigger — an order is paid, inventory changes, a product is tagged.
  • Condition — quantity below a threshold, product in a collection, customer tag.
  • Action — tag, email, adjust inventory, or call a connected app.

Where a bulk editor fits

Flow versus a scheduled task

Flow reacts to events; a scheduled task runs on the clock. Promotions are usually clock-driven, while inventory and merchandising rules are usually event-driven — most stores end up using both.
