Shopify’s own bulk editor and CSV import are free and unlimited, so “free bulk editing” already exists. What the free tiers of apps offer is the part Shopify lacks — rules, scheduling and undo — in small quantities.

How to use a free tier properly

1. Pick a change you actually need — not a test product. A real discount on ten real items.
2. Run it, then read the log. Old value, new value, per field: that is what you are buying.
3. Revert it. The quality of the undo is the single most important thing to test.
4. On a paid plan, schedule one for five minutes ahead with a revert ten minutes later and watch both fire.
5. Only then compare prices.

When free is genuinely enough

A store with a few hundred products that changes prices twice a year can get a long way on the free tier, running five small tasks a month. What the paid plans add is volume, the scheduler, recurring tasks and task history — the filters and editors themselves are the same everywhere.
